An AI phone concierge for Australian businesses

The calls you can’t take, answered.

TurnTaker answers after hours and when your lines are busy. It tells callers it is an AI, answers from what your business has published, takes a message when it can’t, and shows you every call.

An illustration of one call, played as it would happen. The same call is written out in full under Read a call.

01 How a call goes

One call, from the first ring to the text.

  1. 9:42 pm. The kitchen closed at nine.

Someone rings anyway. It’s when people finally get round to booking for the weekend.

  2. TurnTaker picks up.

It says it’s an AI first, in the venue’s name, then answers from what the venue has published.

  3. It books the table that’s free.

Straight into the diary, while the caller is still on the line.

  4. The text lands before they hang up.

The booking, and a link to change it, in words the venue wrote. Nobody had to be at the host stand.

A call, from the first word to the message on the counter

This is a written sample of one after-hours call, not a live demo. A demo we run with you, against your own hours and your own answers — that is what the button below books.

TurnTakerCaller

  1. TurnTaker0:00

Sunny Coast Plumbing. You've reached TurnTaker, the after-hours AI. How can I help?

  2. Caller0:04

Hi, my hot water's gone cold. Can anyone come out tonight?

  3. TurnTaker0:08

Tonight's call-outs are for leaks and bursts. Cold water can wait until the morning, and the first slot is 7 am.

  4. Caller0:15

Seven's fine. Can you book me in?

  5. TurnTaker0:18

I'll take a message for Dan, and he'll call you first thing. What's the best number?

  6. Caller0:23

Oh four one two, five five five, oh one nine.

  7. TurnTaker0:27

Got it, 0412 555 019. And the address?

  8. Caller0:30

    14 Wirra Street, Buderim.

  9. TurnTaker0:33

Thanks. Dan will have that before he starts, and he'll call you first. Good night.

  10. Caller0:38

    Great, thanks.

What the business got: a message with the name, the number and the address, an email when it landed, and the call in the dashboard with its recording and transcript.

Want to hear it rather than read it?

We set an agent up against your hours, your answers and your transfer rules, then give you a number and you ring it. Nothing touches your real line until you say so.

Book a demo

A public text demo you can type at yourself is coming. It needs its own way in and its own limits, and we would rather have none than a fake one.

Before anything else

It tells callers it's an AI. First.

Not buried in a menu and not if they ask. The first thing a caller hears names the business and says what is answering, and a collection notice follows it. The wording is fixed in code and said the same way on every call — no dial, no setting and no persona can reach it.

What a caller hears

“Sunny Coast Plumbing. You’ve reached TurnTaker, the after-hours AI. How can I help?”

A caller who would rather speak to a person can say so, and TurnTaker takes a message or puts them through by your rules. Callers can read what happens to what they say without an account.

02 What it does

What the front desk does, after it has gone home.

From what you’ve published, in your business’s name, by your rules. Where it has no answer, it says so and takes a message.

Books into the diary

For hospitality: only into a table that’s really free, while the caller is still on the line.

Takes a proper message

Who, why, and how to reach them. Not a voicemail to decode.

Puts the right calls through

Your rules decide, not the model.

  • Someone describes an emergencyTells them to call 000
  • A supplier with a delivery problemPuts them through to the duty manager
  • Anything elseA message for the morning

Answers from what you’ve published

Hours, menus, what to bring, where to park. If it isn’t in what you’ve published, it says so and takes a message.

Can you do gluten-free?

Most of the menu can be made gluten-free. Let your waiter know when you order.

What happens

When someone rings

You keep your number. You forward it — on busy, on no answer, or outside your hours — and the calls you would have missed arrive here instead.

  1. 01

    Your line forwards

No porting and no new number for your customers. Your carrier sends the calls you choose — busy, unanswered, after hours — to your TurnTaker line. Everything else still rings your phone.

  2. 02

It says what it is, then listens

The opening line names your business and says a caller has reached an AI. Then it asks how it can help, and waits.

  3. 03

It answers, transfers, or takes a message

It answers from what you have published. It puts people through by rules you set. Where it has no published answer it says so and takes a message rather than guessing — and if a transfer does not connect, it tells the caller and offers what is actually available.

  4. 04

    You see the call

Every call lands in your dashboard with its transcript, its recording, how it ended, and which of your rules decided. Anything that needs a person is waiting in one list.

The limits

What it won't do

Written down because the shape of what a phone agent refuses is more useful than another list of what it can do.

  • Invent an answer

It answers from entries your business has published and nothing else. No published answer means it says so and takes a message. There is no search over the web and no general knowledge behind it.

  • Handle an emergency

If a caller describes one, it says to hang up and call 000, and it says nothing else that might keep them on the line. TurnTaker is not an emergency service.

  • Write its own texts

An SMS to a caller is a template your account manager wrote, sent word for word, and only after the caller has confirmed the number. The model chooses which one; it never writes one.

  • Answer from a draft

Only a published version answers a real caller. A change you are still working on is reachable by a test call and by nothing else.

  • Ring anybody

Inbound only. It does not chase leads, return calls or dial a list. A callback request goes to your queue for a person.

  • Speak another language

English only. A caller who needs another language is a message taken, not a conversation attempted.

03 Afterwards

Every call in one place.

The dashboard reviews calls; it does not watch them happen. You read what was said, hear it if you want to, and act on the handful that need you.

Who it's for

Businesses where a missed call costs money and most answers are already known

TurnTaker is built first for low-risk work with settled answers. If yours is regulated or clinical, it is not ready for you yet, and we will say so.

Logistics and shipping offices

Where is my consignment, what time does the depot close, who do I speak to about a damaged pallet. Most of it is a fact you already publish.

Simple helpdesks

The same twenty questions, then a ticket. TurnTaker answers the twenty and takes a structured message for the rest, with the urgent ones marked by your own words for urgent.

Overflow and routing

Two lines and four people. When everyone is on a call, the next caller reaches TurnTaker instead of a dial tone, and gets put through or gets a message taken.

Trades on the tools

You cannot answer with your hands in a wall. Your hours decide what tonight's callers are told, and the ones worth waking up for are the ones marked urgent.

Hospitality, for bookings

Where an SMS with a booking link is enough, or where TurnTaker checks the diary and books directly against Google Calendar.

Not yet: health and regulated work

Clinical triage, anything with an onshore data obligation, anything where a wrong answer is a safety problem. Those need a different configuration and a different review, and they come later.

Who it is not for, and why

Who you'll talk to

Two people, and you will meet both of them

There is no sales team and no support queue. We set your agent up with you, and we are the ones who answer when something is wrong.

[REVIEW: founder name]Product and engineering

Builds the thing. Answers the phone when a client says an agent said something odd, and can tell you exactly which turn of which call they mean.

Sits with you and writes the answers your agent gives, the rules for who gets put through, and the words that make a message urgent.
